Bio
“Crazy funny band with a singer that reminds us of Art Brut and songs that ooze pleasure. The Pleasure Principle are fun, entertaining and light.“ (3voor12, Dutch music blog)
The best decisions are made in the bar, and so also The Pleasure Principle was founded in the city of Utrecht (Netherlands) in 2006, after the original plans to save the world were cancelled. Priorities had to be taken.
The sound that originated from first rehearsals was dubbed ‘Britporn’: indierock with British influences, but clearly Dutch. The sound of The Pleasure Principle is a so-called ‘orgy’ of melodious guitars, combined with (often) a-melodious vocals. Armed with a fast rhythm section, raging guitars and an energetic front man, there is but one goal... people have to dance!
The Pleasure Principle has been compared to bands like Franz Ferdinand, Art Brut, Ian Dury, The Rakes and The Libertines. Their debut-EP will be released in march 2010.
“The Pleasure Principle has the sex-appeal and the songs to break through both here and abroad“ (Phil Tilli, guitarist Moke)
